WESTERN COMBOS @ LAS DELICIAS BRASSERIE
Citta Mall, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia - 25th December 2012
Huge Chunk of Roast Pork Knuckles.
Las Delicias is an odd place. Yes, it sells Western food, but of what type?
Italian? German? French?
Well frankly, it offers all of the above, and perhaps more.
But with so many national varieties, will it fare well?
Ok. Let's eat - then make judgment!

The main entrance of dark timber paneling shouts out German; but then it touts itself as a "Brasserie", French then?

But a side entrance with the words "Cigars" hints of a British pub.
Perhaps it's the owners intention to project this multi-nation image, after all there are serving a combo of Western fare.

Since were were a large group, we were ushered into a private room.
But it's no ordinary private room, it's furniture and décor has a certain English flavour; what with the chandeliers and ornate mirrors.
Grandness.... I am impressed.
But will the food be impressive?

We were sort of eating Chinese style, with all the food at the centre and us sharing it so that everyone gets to taste something of everything.
First came the mushroom soup with a variety of mushrooms nicely blended into a creamy puree.
The servings here are huge! Most time the quantity can feed two, so gauge your orders accordingly.

The seafood soup with clams, squids and fish served in a tomato puree was thick but  went down very well, with the hint of spices augmenting the taste of Neptune's wonders.
A large slice of garlic bread are served with each soup.

The Garden Salad was a huge offering of mixed greens, tomatos, slices of hard boiled eggs and bacon topped up a honey mustard dressing and a sprinkling of grated cheese.
Magnifico!

Spaghetti Carbonara with just a nips of bacon in creamy sauce.
Mamamia! Delizioso!

Chef Alfredo's Sausage combo was a delight, served with mashed potatoes, coleslaw and even sauerkraut.

It's a good combination of six selected assortment of fine sausages, all made by the Chef Alfredo himself.
Wunderbar!

The pork knuckles that came next was huge, that's a carving knife sticking into it.
The skin was crispy and super crunchy, while the meat was not that dry and with that hint of German foodie sourness.

Looks delicious... and juicy too. Yes?
Gutes Essen! (That's German for - Excellent food!)

What came next was a really succulent looking lasagna and of healthy proportions too.
Succulento! (Yes, it's back to Italian again)

The Braised Lamb Shank was one huge chunk too.
Served with mashed potatoes, carrots and some greens in brown sauce.

Real tender and with the jus oozing out....
Superb! (it's English now)
We are having a real Christmas feast here!

For drinks, a nice frothy watermelon juice, freshly blended. (Hey! That's Malaysian.)

and Mountain Fresh Apple & Guava Juice.
We had some beer too... heh! heh!

Eats over; we swapped Christmas presents.
Merry Christmas!!

Las Delicias, is a place of Combo Western fare, but in that hot-potch menu one will find excellent food, one that's well worth it's price in quality... AND quantity.
This is one place that should not be missed.

Las Delicias have an excellent selection of wine...

... and imported mineral water.
