Sungei Pencala, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
One evening, a few cycling buddies and me (see Sg Pencala Exploratory Ridepopped into Subak at Sungei Pencala.

Or rather we climbed up to Subak as it is nestled in a small hillock. And was I in for a treat for both my palate and eyes!

Terrace sitting overlooking nice greenery of the Sg. Pencala kampong.
This is a place that one wouldn't have expect to find in a Malay Kampong area like Sungei Pencala.
But it's there! A diamond in the wild.

Greenery is all around us, the place is built into nature - blending well into the hill with its Balinese style. I must come another day during the daytime, it should look so much better then.

Well, enough of the beautiful surrounding, time to EAT! We sat ourselves in these rustic surroundings and made our order.

Most of us ordered the Angel Hair Curry Spaghetti. It came with two halves of a tiger prawn, tau pok and bean sprouts.
The angel hair was soft, mid-way between mee and vermicelli. It's fine texture soaking in the prawn flavored so curry well that each mouthful was a good balance of curry and pasta.
They must have used prawn soup to cook the curry. It was sweet, prawn flavored just nicely thick with coconut milk without being overbearing. So good that I drank it all to the last drop... Finisto!

For starters, one of my buddies ordered the gado-gado. It came well presented, looking almost too nice to eat.
The portion was small, just adequate for one person, but it must have been good as my friend finished all of it.
I nipped a taste of the sauce for that's where the secret of gado-gado lies - a good sauce.
It was good with a hint of tamarind sourness, better than many other eateries that tend to forget the tamarind. Those end up tasting like satay sauce AND not gado-gado sauce!

Another buddy ordered the seafood spaghetti. He was not to happy with it, complaining that the pasta was to tough.

For drinks, I had a mixed berry smoothie. It was good but a little to sweet for me. But then I do not have a sweet-tooth, preferring drinks and desserts of fair sweetness.

My buddy sitting next to me, being a passionate fella, ordered the passion fruit smoothie. It must have made him passionate as he did talk a lot that evening!

Another buddy, being a simple person, just went for the fresh Thai coconut.

Overall it was a good meal in a nice ambience, so nice that we sat there for close to two hours soaking in the place while chatting. Subak really lived up to their catchphrase of "dine with nature".
