Jogjakarta 2013 : Borobudur Silver Shop - May 2013
A replica of Borobudur in silver.
After visiting the renown Borobudur (... see Jogjakarta 2013 : Day 2- A Day Of Temples), we popped by to a nearby silver shop, aptly named Borobudur Silver. It's an interesting place that showed how they made their silver craft too.

At the entrance we were met by a cute lady guide, who proceeded to take us on a tour starting with the production by their silversmiths.

A machine that will roll silver into thinner plates with grooves.

There are even female silversmiths here; this lady artisan is making silver bracelets from a roll of silver wire.

From the silver wire, she slowly bends out u-shapes and hooks them to other U's to slowly form a silver bracelet.

Workshop demonstration over, we were guided into the show room, it is a large showroom with all sorts of silver craft & artwork too. There is an anteroom specially just for art pieces.

A. SILVER CRAFT

The silver section has many pieces of beautiful adornments and craft pieces. The above is a pair of solid silver bracelets with a blood red ruby on each one.

A choker made from silver circlets with a center piece red jasper stone.

Semi-precious stone beaded necklace based on Javanese tribal design with a couple of large silver pendants - and a bull-head centerpiece.

Silver part choker, part necklace of stylized dragon-fly wings design with matching earrings.

Silver crochet necklace of "mini cymbals" design with matching earrings.

Silver handbags.

Being a man, I was more attracted to silver art pieces (apologies to my female readers). These are of fine and detail workmanship, like the horse carriage above.

Silver Giant Gourami with gold inlay to highlight its fins, scales, etc.

Silver replica of Borobudur with gold ringed stupas.
