BALINESE PAINTINGS AT BALI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Hall 4 - Balinese Costumes Paintings
Bali, Indonesia - November 2018
Lady Balinese Oleg Tamulilingan (Bumble Bee Dance) dancers greeting male counterpart wearing Udeng.
While on a cycling trip in Bali, on an invitation by the Brompton Owners Bali group, we visited several places. Bali is an island full of art, whether at its attractive temples, palaces, water parks or just around any corner. And we saw many beautiful pieces. even as we were waiting to board our return flight, at the International Departure Halls of the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Below are some of the paintings that we saw at Halls 4. Most of the paintings depict close up of traditional Balinese Dancers and featured interesting Balinese dance head-wear. Several other paintings depict Balinese villager rural scenes. As the painting were high up at the tall ceiling level, their are several pieces that came up blur, these I have not included. Click on the respective photo for a better enlarged view. Due to photography angle, and for presentation purposes, many of photos have been cropped and edited to compensate for low lighting. It is better to go there and see these artwork for yourself. Enjoy!

The above and the following few paintings shows close up of the Oleg Tamulilingan (Bumble Bee Dance) female dancers wearing the elaborate head-dress that goes with the dance. The men shown are wearing the traditional male counterpart wearing Udeng head-dress.

This one also shows a couple in their Balinese Wedding Costume.

This one shows two of the ladies wearing elaborate Oleg Tamulilingan head-dresses adorned with less flowers.

Men in the Tari Gebug Ende costume.
This dance known as the Rattan War Dance gets its name from the weapons used: a metre and a half rattan stick called Gebug and a shield made from cow's hide called Ende.
This is a dance performed Karangasem to bring rain. Karangasem is located on the eastern tip of Bali, which is the island's driest area especially during the hot season. The home of the Gebug Ende dance is the village of Seraya where sometimes the hot season could mean a drought. The dance is believed to bring rain as the blood spilled during the performance will appease the gods and bring the rain down.
