SCOTTISH CURRY MEE @ MC CURRY NOODLES
Glenmarie, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia - 22nd December, 2012
After a hunger-inducing bike ride (see The Light Riders : Bukit Cahaya Agri Park), me & my biking buddies adjourned to have this good curry noodles.
And by God! Was it GUID!
And the strange thing was that it is operated by a Scottish!

Yes! It is owned by a Mr. Colin James Mcculloch - a very typical Scottish name; who is very hands on in the operation.
He even does the cooking with a few helpers.

On would expect that since this place is Scottish owned/operated, its name would be McCurry Noodles.
But the McCurry name is already taken by a Indian curry-house which had a legal wrangle with McDonald's (see McDonald's vs McCurry).

So MC Curry it is then. But then I could be wrong, MC could also stand for Mee Curry.

They have a simple and good organized system of taking orders. At the front stall/kitchen, the customer makes the order to a helper, who will write it down and pass it to the cooking queue.
A plastic tag, with a number corresponding to the order, is then given to the customer who takes it to his table and wait for delivery. Somewhat like a deli's system.

Being rather hungry after a good morning's cycling, I ordered a large bowl of curry noodles. At RM5-50 per bowl it is very reasonably priced.
The waitress delivering the orders called out "Number 80!"
Okay that's mine. See! No confusion here - a simple but effective system.

With that good a pricing, it is no surprise then to see the place fairly occupied even at this time.

I looked down to my bowl.
Hmmmm. Not bad, they are very generous with their ingredients, with ample quantities of tau pok, cockles and a couple of pieces of curried chicken - no stinging here.
But how does it taste? After all pricing is not everything; the food have to be good too.
The soup was good, not to thick or creamy, just about nice. The Tau Pok was cooked until nicely soft but not overly. The chicken was a bit overcooked so slightly tough.
Overall, it's much, much better than many that I have tried.

A biking buddy opted for the Dry Curry Noodles, it's about the same as the Curry Noodles except there was less curry and the curry was a thicker version.

Rivern, our team leader, had the Hot Wok Yee Mee Noodles; as you can guess, it was served in a small heated wok.

Whilst another friend had the Pork Mee Noodles, looks good but I have seen better (see YummY! - Pork Soup Noodle  @ U Like It Restaurant). Well, to each his/her own.

Along one wall of the shop are posters of the food that MC offers. A good idea as it gives patrons an idea of what to expect - or perhaps gets them drooling for the food.

At the wall behind the preparation area is a white board showing the pricing for the food and drinks.
The pricing is very reasonable and the portions good. I would advise ladies to go for the small portion, the regular portion even filled me up more than adequately.

View of the curry chicken.

There's ample seating even on the outside, but do go early to avoid the crowds.

Colin must miss his other home as behind the counter can be seen photos and memorabilia he has collected on his trips there.
