My friend Tailim (of the hApPy HaPpY Blog) had attended  OCBC Cycle Singapore 2013 event (... see blog). After checking out from our hotel, we went on to try the Fei Fei Wantan Mee.
Fei Fei is located in the Joo Chiat neighborhood of Singapore. And interestingly, Joo Chiat in Hokkein (depending on how it's pronounced) could mean "cooking food" or "eat more". What a name for an area that has many eating places!
Tailim had the normal dried (Kon Loh) wantan noodles - per Singapore style they provided chili paste to spice up the dish.
The "char siew" barbecued pork was very red and lean too. I like my char siew well roasted and slightly burnt ala Kuala Lumpur, and with some fat.
But the wantan were of generous proportion with lots of meat inside.
I had the wantan noodles with chicken legs. The healthy portion of the chicken legs easily overshadowed the noodles.
The chicken legs were well deep fried first before being cooked in a stew. Good chicken legs should have that wrinkly look, meaning that the skin is soft and easily tears off from the bone. This one was really wrinkly and thus really good.
The pictorial menu that is pasted onto the stall. It shows what is offered by the stall. Those items taped over are not available.
We also tried the rojak here. Over the usual fruits and vegetables, it came with bean sprouts, kangkong and yeow char kwai.
The rojak stall; they also sell barbecued roller-flattened cuttlefish.
A few doors away, on Everitt Road, there is another Fei Fei Wantan Noodles.
What? Another one just a few steps nearby, that does not make economic sense.
The Everitt Road one is operated by a relative of this one, it is a splinter when the relatives fell out with each other.
