FRIED NOODLES @ SANG KEE - TAI SHI TOW
Lorong Yap Ah Loy, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - 15th June, 2013
Sadly for me memories of the good old times here are gone with the tree; it has been cut down. Instead, now the shade is provide by a lean-to. But somehow it feels different, not so natural cooling. Let's hope the food is still as good.
We ordered some Tiger beer first to quench our thirst from our bike ride, and were in for a bonus. The beer came very chilled, there was even ice frozen onto the bottles - super nice for out parched throats.
As there were just the four of us, we ordered the Fried Beef Keow Teow, & the Cantonese Fried Hor Fun/Beehon which came with some medium-sized prawns. Each plate was for two pax.
This place is also renown for its Sang Har Min - that's fried pre-dried noodles with giant Tiger Prawns. Be prepared to fork out more $$ as Tiger Prawns are not cheap these days.
The Fried Beef Keow Teow came with spring onions, slices of ginger and ...
... lots of slices of tender, juicy beef! It is still as tasty as it was back then.
The Cantonese Fried Noodles is a combination of keow teow & bee hoon which has been stir-fried first and the gravy added on later.
The gravy is cooked with choy sum, slices of pork, pork liver, and medium-sized prawns - the prawny flavor have seeped well into it. YummY!
I always try to make it a habit to go to the kitchen of the eateries, that is if they allow it.
Here, it was an open concept and I found Ah Wah busy at the wok. He was an apprentice back then but is now the master chef.
Ah Wah scooping up ingredients.
Ingredients that goes into the fried noodles; from right - medium-sized prawns, slices of pork & liver; tiger prawns with their heads intact for more flavor.

Super YummY!
