Taiwan Art @ Art Wall Of Tamsui Old Street (淡水老街)
Tamsui, Taiwan  - November 2017
It was the last few days in of our cycling tour of Taiwan, we went cycling around the Tamsui outskirts of Taipei and chance upon an art wall along Tamsui Old Street (淡水老街). On the wall were large tiles (about 300mm x 300mm) each with a painting glazed onto them.
Below are photos of some of the artwork from the wall. Due to photography angle some of the photos have been truncated and these photos here gives a representation of what I saw; nothing beats going there to see them for yourselves.
Enjoy!

At each end of the wall were telecommunication distribution boxes of Chunghwa Telecom; pasted on them were poster photos of Tamsui Old Street, the above is from 1875.

An inscription panel on the wall gives a write up in Chinese.

The paintings were rendered in several styles, below are those along old Chinese painting style:
A couple of Mantis Prawns lovingly swimming together.

A medieval Chinese official dressed in a red period costume glaring at a bat. I wonder whether this Justice Bao (Bao Zheng, 包拯) and the bat representing evil.

A stylized line drawing of Sun Wukong (孫悟空 , the Monkey God).

A Fangxiangshi (方相氏, Chinese exorcist chasing away evil spirits; the one near his knee looks like Shrek).

River scenery with moored sampans and cherry blossom trees.

A monkey inquisitively looking at a mirror image of itself.

Stylized black and white line drawing of a Chinese dragon.

A Chinese temple lion guard painted in reddish orange.

A couple of loving Angel fishes.

Another loving picture, this one of a dating couple at the Tamsui riverside enjoying drinks and ice-cream.

Black on yellow painting of a lady vendor grilling dried cuttlefish.

A lady in yellow dress selling skewered sweet meats from her pushcart.

A pretty bar girl in blue floral dress texting on her phone.

Still art of a floral bouquet on display in a blue Ming porcelain teapot.

A naked crying lady... or perhaps she was just catching forty winks.

Back view of a standing naked lady.

Sunflowers with all seeing eyes; the yellow one at the centre seems to be the leader as others are looking at it respectfully.

Yellow leaf autumn trees by the seaside.

Chinese temple roof, instead of the usual red tiles, these ones have green tiles.

Indigo roses, a rare species.

A Christian fish?

Yellow lilies in the valley.

To close off, a photo of Tamsui Old Street in 1935.
