Footsteps - Jotaro's Travels
All termed a restaurant, this place is actually a food court; several hawkers vend their food within its opened walls and zinc roofed space. The hawkers are at the perimeter edge while sitting for patrons are at the centre. This fellow here is the hawker for the porridge; he sells several combinations to his customers' preferences - pork, pork tripe, fish, chicken or a mixed of these.
Sin Sing Kee is quiet easy to locate, there are just a block away from the Sekinchan Wet Market.
Some of us had dry wanton noodles, while most of us went for the porridge. I had a combo of fish, pork and pork tongue. It came looking quite bare, with all the ingredients hidden at the bottom while at the top was garnishing of cut spring onions, ginger strips and a dash of soy sauce with sesame oil. Finicky me requested for more cut spring onions, it's good for the digestion and also made the dish look better.
The way to eat this is to start stirring so that all the top and bottom ingredients, including the sauces and oil, are mixed thoroughly into the porridge.
And here we are, all nicely mixed ready for me do dig in. The porridge itself although bland looking was quite flavourful as it had been cooked with the soup of the boiled chicken, pork and tripe. Thin slices of raw fish had been added in just before the hot gruel was adden on top.
Tastewise it was good, with the meat and sauces adding their flavours IN. No complaints here as it was a simple but good breakfast.
We also order some soft boiled eggs; these came out perfect!
