Street Art @ Batu, Kuala Lumpur
Kampung Batu, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - December 2020
Every once in a while we cycle to the Batu Metropolitan Park - it's one of those smaller parks in the city; but at 280 acres it's not that small. And it has some added advantage: it's not that well known and as such is relatively quiet.
And on one of these trips we did a short detour to Kampung Batu and "discovered" some nice street art murals there! Below are the murals, enjoy:

One of the most easily recognisable mural was that of a mini-bus, or locally called the Bas Mini. They use to serve local commuters prior to the introduction of the MRT/LRT trains. The buses were primarily painted pink with a white stripe on the sides, and had a capacity of 20-30 passengers, due to its smaller size. They operate from 1975 to 1998 and were replaced by the Intrakota bus service and later, RapidKL buses in 2005.

As usual, my cycling buddies (especially the girls) were having fun to posing with the murals.

One of my buddies "getting aboard" the Mini Bus.

Some of the murals depicted local life - like this one showing a couple harvesting some sort of shell fish .....

..... and a tricycle vendor, hawking bread and other pastry.

A Red Arowana fish swimming out from a hole in the wall, making this a 3-D art. Red arowanas are beautiful, and are prized more than the Golden Arowanas. Also known as Asian Dragonfish; one particular fish was heard to have cost more than a Lamborghini.

 A mouse yearning for a cheese .....
aren't we all always yearning for something?

Enjoying a drink from a giant take-away pack .....

..... a friendly help to squeeze and aim in the right direction 🤣.

A little boy "learning the trick of the trade", collecting the prized swiftlet bird's nest.

The girls giving the little boy a helpful boost to reach his target!

My buddies with the dragon mural (seen at the top-most photo), which is located at the side wall of the Guan Joo Long Luck Kee Grocery Store.

Well, that's all for the moment. It's not that many murals, but it's a good sign to see artwork spreading to the suburb of the city. Hopefully the artists will come back to continue their beautiful work in the future, the lane does continue onward.
