The Serendah Waterfalls is one of the nicest place for people from the nearby cities and towns to come and relax. It is a place to immerse oneself in the roaring waters and be part on Nature. I was there while on a cycle ride from Rawang to these falls (... see more)

To reach the waterfall, at Federal Route 1, just at Serendah old town turn into Jalan Dato Harun, it's on the right if heading towards Ipoh. Follow this road for another 4 km., pass a chequered plate metal bridge and you will reach the lower waterfalls.

Just before the waterfalls is a large car-park.

Next to it are stalls, toilets and changing rooms.

Here, there are stalls selling drinks and food.

The waterfalls are just next to these buildings.

The lower waterfalls is taller and with a larger, deeper swimming area.
But be warned though, there has been several drowning cases here. Undercurrents suck in unsuspecting swimmers into an underwater cavity behind the falls. The red rope seen above, is to caution swimmers not to go beyond that point lest be sucked downwards.

Beyond the Lower Waterfall is a track that leads further up ...

... to the Upper Waterfalls. Unlike the Lower Falls (which is just a single, taller waterfall). here there are a series of cascading water falls leading to a large shallow pool area.
The water cascade down, bubbling amongst the olive brown rocks.

You can sit at one of the many nooks and feel the strong rush of the water against your body - getting a good therapeutic water massage.

... or just lie down with the water flowing around you, and embrace nature.

... or just swim with friends in the frothing water of the pool below.

YES! The Serendah Waterfall is a nice and enjoyable place to be at; do stop by and have a good time if you are around the area.

Steamed Tilapia with Wantan Noodles

During a cycle ride (see What A Rush: Serendah Waterfalls Ride) from Rawang to the Serendah Waterfalls we we had lunch at Restoran R Cheng Fei Zhou Yu Wantan Mee in Rawang.

Restoran R Cheng (the full name is a mouthful, so I have shorten it here) is located in a single-storey house in Rawang.

Fortunately when we arrive, the place was not full - see,there were 50+ of us bikers. Seating is at below a lean to shed that covers the front of the house, and the cooking is done at the side.

This place was recommended as our lunch stop by the co-organizers of our bike ride - SC Chin & Liliana Lee.

Many from out of town have come to this place to try out it's unique dish. So is it good?

Steamed Tilapia in Dark Soy Sauce

The serving comes in a large platter with a fair sized Tilapia fish that has been sliced in half together with some Wantan noodles. To go with the dish there is a wide choice of gravy, from simple garlic to dark soy gravy, etc.

The dish is good but not exceptional, but there are other good food to savor here - read on to find out.

If one is not into noodles, well, just go for the steamed tilapia in light soy sauce marinated with garlic, ginger, carrots & spring onion. This one goes well with white rice.

... or the Deep Fried Tilapia ins soy sauce.

Tilapia Fish not your cup of tea? No worries, there are other dishes on the menu - like this Claypot Duck Stew. YummY!

And this Choon Kin (mince pork roll); nice and tender on the inside, crispy on the outside.

They don't have a menu here, but on one wall is a large poster showing the dishes available.

SEAFOOD TOMYAM @ SERENDAH TOMYAM

During a cycle ride (see What A Rush: Serendah Waterfalls Ride) to the Serendah Waterfalls we popped by to the Restaurant Tomyam, Serendah for a quick bite.

This place lies just off the old trunk road in Serendah town, in an nondescript blue wooden house.

The cooking is done at the veranda of this house.

At the side is a airy shaded section that serves as a eating area. It's quite a large space, so this place must be a favorite among patrons.

The seafood tomyam beehoon (vermicelli) had lots of cuttlefish, fish, etc. in it. It was chilli hot, sourish but not overly - one taste and I can see why this place is a favorite.

They also serve good, refreshing Leng Chee Kang here.

It's a local dessert made with cincau, cendul, lychees, etc. with lots of ice. An invigorating dessert after a hot bike ride!

The deep-fried chicken here is very good too. I am still trying to figure out what the seasoning is - soy sauce, garlic... and do I taste a hint of belacan here?

Tomyam & other noodles preparation area. They serve good curry noodles too.

At one corner there is for sale, Chillied Dried Prawns. These are pounded dried prawns, stir fried with chili paste. Careful though, the ones with the red labels are EXTRA HOT!
