VAMPIRE SLAYERS @ BURGER JUNKYARD (Halal)
Damansara Perdana, Selangor, Malaysia - January 2014
Nope. I did not meet with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Instead I had this great burger called the Vampire Slayer at this new burger joint called Burger Junkyard. But isn't that an odd name for a burger? Try it and you will find out why.

It seems that things are going well for specialty burger bars. Many, especially the younger crowd, seem to be flocking to these outlets to savour the thicker and juicier patties that these places offer. Of late there has been a boom of specialty burger outlets in the Klang Valley. It's a good thing too; more meaning more choices and more means only the good ones will shine through. The latest to open is Burger Junkyard in Damansara Perdana.

As in the style of new eateries these days, the kitchen can be partly viewed by patrons, showing how clean it is and how hygienically the food is prepared.

Ordering is a cinch, it's done at the counter where next to it on a wall is a menu. They have a good choice here of different types of burger, but not too many as to confuse patrons. For those who are particular about the meat they eat, next to each burger item is an icon of a chicken or cow, or both.

The burgers come in two sizes - half and regular. Half doesn't mean a burger cut into half, it means a smaller burger. On the counter are a couple of rubber replica of the buns showing their actual sizes.

Each burger is served with cheese and lots of fries. One thing I like about burger bars is that the chips they serve are of the thicker type as compared to regular fast food joints. This chips are crispy on the outside but still have a good thickness to be able to taste good potato.

Lynn went for the half-size Texas Hold Me Burger. It's a thick slab of beef patty that comes with some bacon, tempura onion rings, etc. All the burgers came with a wooden skewer sticking right throygh them, a good idea that will hold the thick burger together as one munches one's way through. Instead of ketchup or chilli sauce, we had their aioli sauce.
Was the burger good? Yes it was! She was holding my arm as she savoured it.

My Vampire Slayer came, the patty definitely was thick and the cheese melted nicely, flopping lazily over the patty. It was the regular size - I am a voracious eater.
So what's so special about it? Well, almost everything about it is garlic - garlic butter, garlic sauce, garlic aioli. Yes, there is enough garlic inside to slay a Vampire, one bite into it and it's kaput for the blood-sucker.
I love this one, the garlic gave a strong bite to the palate. As one munch into it the strong garlic tempts one to munch even more, swirling it to get as much of the flavour out.

A close up shows how juicy the beef patty is and how wonderfully fluffy the bun is.

Other than normal seating, the indoor dining area has cozy bar style seating. For the younger ones (or for those who want to feel young again) there are low crate-box seating.

On the outside, there are some comfortable seating.
