The National Palace Museum, located in Taipei and TaibaoTaiwan, has a permanent collection of nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese imperial artifacts and artworks. Gallery 101 (Compassion & Wisdom: Religious Sculptural Arts) here displays sculptures from the different Chinese dynasties. These were mainly statues of the different forms of Buddha arising from the various scriptures. Buddhist sculpture not only imparts religious ideals, but also conveys worldly concepts of beauty.
