Masjid Selat Melaka
Section 7, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia - February 2015
We were doing a cycling stint at Malacca City during a long holiday stretch when we rode over to the Masjid Selat Malacca (in English that would be the Malacca Straits Mosque). We did not go into the mosque, we were there to appreciate it;s beauty from outside while the sun was setting. The mosque is a beautiful one made all the more beautiful by it;s location right at the sea's edge at the Straits of Malacca.

We approached the place where we wanted to view the mosque through a beach; pushing/carrying our through the soft sand made as appreciated the beauty of the mosque all the even more. Each hard step brought us to a closer view of the mosque.

Our destination was this rocky outcrop just opposite the mosque. Here we will sit patiently waiting for the sun to set and dusk to come.

We found out later that there is another way to this outcrop, it's via the ramp-way through which the amphibious Duck Tour boat goes into the sea. But bear in mind that the gates to this ramp closes when this boat returns after it's last tour of the day.

Opened in November 2006, the Masjid Selat Melaka is a fairly new mosque. It's design is a mix of the traditional Malaccan mosque minarets with with stained glass entrance arches and topped with a dome.

Located at Pulau Melaka, its sits on stilts protruding out into the open sea. During high tide it looks like a floating mosque.

The sun is setting, so we got our cameras ready. Here are the views as the sun set:

It was a perfect close to a good day in Malacca.
