IPOH HOR FUN NOODLES & HAINANESE CHICKEN RICE @ RESTORAN CHONG THOONG KEE
Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - 12th January, 2013
In Kuala Lumpur and looking for nice Ipoh Hor Fun?
There's this nice chicken shop that serves very good Ipoh Hor Fun Noodles, not as good as the Ipoh original; but it comes close, very close.

The place is Restoran Chong Thoong Kee located at Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, at the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.
Me & a few friends had just attended a presentation on GPS equipment for bicycles at the nearby Taman Rimba TTDI and decided to pop over there for lunch.

For the ten of us we ordered a huge bowl of prawn/chicken wantans.

A large plate of boiled beans sprouts. These were just superb, short and thick, making them crunchy and tasty in the oyster sauce that they were served in.

And a fantastic plate of delicious looking "pak charm kai" - that's Cantonese for "white broiled chicken"

Their wantans were fairly large sized with a piece of shrimp and mince chicken inside. Good, bitey and and the wantan skin not too soft. Just correct.

Looking at these pieces of chicken can really make one's mouth water.
That was what happened to me.
The chicken meat was tender and adequately juicy. But the best part was the skin, slightly thicker than normal and smooth. Fantastic!

To go with these three communal dishes, each of us had a bowl of Ipoh Hor Fun Soup.
These came with shredded chicken and a couple of slices of prawns.
The soup was a bit lacking in prawn flavor though, and we made a mistake of including the shredded chicken as we already had a plate of sumptuous chicken before us.
Their Ipoh Hor Fun is edible but not up to par; but they serve one hell of a Hainanese Chicken rice. I have frequently tried that!

Drinks served here are Herbal Tea, Sugar Cane Water, Soy Water and the standard orders of a coffee shop - i.e. coffe, tea, etc.

Our bill came to RM17-00 per pax, slightly on the high side
