BEEF NOODLE @ GOODALL FOOD COURT
Tanjung Tokong, Penang, Malaysia
Penang food has always been renown, but Beef noodles although good is seldom mentioned amongst tourists whenever they chat about the good Penang food.
Why? Because it is over-shadowed by the other famous food such as Char Keow Teow, Penang Laksa, etc. And probably they are not to many food stalls selling Beef Noodles.
But if one knows one way around the island, one will definitely find the good ones.

This one is the branch of the famous Weld Quay beef noodles. There are two well-known stalls in Weld Quay - one at the Victoria Street Bus terminal and the other at the Chulia Street/Beach Street junction. I did not get to ask which one.

They serve noodles (keow teow) or rice in beef soup with sliced beef, tendon and cow's tripe.
I went for the Keow Teow soup with tendons and tripe.

Ah Chuan, the vendor, was friendly and chatted with me whilst he prepared my order. He was quick and skillful in slicing the tendons and tripe.

The tripe and tendons are pre-boiled and just needed slicing. The beef were sliced and minced slightly' and only cooked prior to serving.

The big pot for cooking has two section. One smaller section is for boiling the noodles and  a larger section contained the soup which is used to cook the beef too.

My order came, with the soft tendons, slices of cow's stomach and other indescribable  tripe in a generous helping of soup -  it did look good but did it taste good?

I munch into the tendon, soft and easily biteable, the slipped in easily. The stomach was crunchy.
The indescribable part - that's the penis! Well, I gulped a bit but dug into it and found it to be surprisingly flavourful; something like the tendon but more chewy and tasteful.
My only disappointment was the soup, it was a bit too diluted. Ah Chuan should have made it thicker and given less soup. A thicker soup even in lesser amount would have been better.

Pricing was reasonable and the menu is a follows:-
Beef Koay Teow Soup / Rice - Small: RM6-00 & Big: RM8-00
Herbal Beef Soup - Small: RM7-00 & Big: RM9-00
To go with the Herbal Soup (optional):
Dry Koay Teow - Small: RM0-60 & Big: RM1-00
Rice - Small: RM0.80 & Big: RM1-00
